Attempted abduction in Norwich — Public safety alert

OXFORD COUNTY, ON — The Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating an attempt abduction from the area of Washington Street and Main Street in Norwich.

On Wednesday, at approximately 10:50 a.m., a 13-year-old female was walking alone, when she noticed a vehicle approach her.

The male driver attempted to coerce the female to get into the front seat of his vehicle, prompting her to run away to safety.

The vehicle was last observed travelling westbound on Main Street.

The male is described to be thin, possibly in his 60’s, with grey hair.

The vehicle involved is described to be an older model silver or grey minivan with a rounded front grill and a black roof rack.
