A death investigation in Brantford has turned into a homicide investigation.
Back on March 11 of 2020, Brantford Police Service officers went to a Mintern Avenue residence, in the Eagle Place area to “conduct a wellbeing check” on a female.
Inside the home the officers found a deceased woman, 37-year-old Shannon MacDougall.
Brantford police officers undertook an investigation with the coroner’s officer and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service to determine how the woman died.
The results of the ongoing investigation and information since received by the investigators has led them to declare MacDougall’s death a homicide.
To protect the integrity of the investigation, a media release was not sent out earlier due to the manner in which police received the information.
The Brantford Police Service’s major crime section is asking anyone who may know anything about the MacDougall’s actions in the days leading up to March 11, 2020. Investigators believe her death was not a random incident.
No arrests have been made at this time.
Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is asked to contact Detective Ryan Groen at 519-756-7050, ext 2206.
