A Brantford man faces numerous charges after a woman was assaulted, threatened and forcibly confined at a Murray Street address Monday.
On May 4 at approximately 4:13 a.m., Brantford police responded to a 911 call at a Murray Street address. A dispatcher heard that a domestic dispute involving a firearm had taken place inside the residence. The victim, a 22-year-old female, had been physically assaulted, threatened bodily harm and forced to stay in the residence with a firearm.
Officers responded to the residence with assistance from the emergency response team. Contact was made with the occupants and the victim was able to safely leave the residence. The victim had sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics. Communication was made with the suspect inside the residence. He peacefully surrendered himself and was arrested by police. Investigation revealed a loaded bolt action rifle, a magazine loaded with ammunition, two types of loose ammunition and a set of brass knuckles inside the residence.
As a result of the investigation a 28-year-old Brantford male has been charged with assault, assault causing bodily, pointing a firearm, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, forcible confinement, careless use of firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.
