A third person has been arrested and charged for a fatal shooting in a Brantford motel on Saturday.
Shajjad Hossain Idrish, 22, of Hamilton, faces charges of murder, two counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, carrying a concealed weapon and careless use of a firearm.
Brantford Police Service arrested Idrish as part of the investigation into the shooting of three men at the Galaxy Motel on Colborne Street East on Saturday shortly before 6 a.m. One of those men, a 42-year-old Brantford resident, died as a result of the shooting. The other two men, ages 26 and 25 and both from Brantford, remain in the hospital.
One man is still wanted for the shooting. Roger Earl VanEvery, 35, of Brantford is charged with murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. VanEvery is described as Indigenous, 5’9″, 170 pounds, with dark hair, brown eyes and a tattoo “13” on his upper right arm. He may be in the Brantford or Hamilton area.
VanEvery is related to Lynn VanEvery, who was murdered at her Park Road residence in Brantford in July 2019 along with her husband Larry Reynolds. Their deaths are still under investigation.
The accused should be considered armed and dangerous. If seen, do not approach them, contact police or 911.
