The County of Brant OPP continue to investigate a house fire that caused about $2 million in damage.

Brant firefighters and police officers responded to the blaze at 68 Harris Rd., off McBay Road in Cainsville, on Jan. 12 at around 5 a.m. County of Brant Fire Chief Geoff Hayman said no one was injured by the fire and no one was home at the time.

The Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) was notified of the fire, but has not attended the scene to investigate.

“The OFM did not attend the scene, as there was no prospect of determining origin and cause of the fire, due to the amount of damage,” said Carol Gravelle, public relations officer for Office of the Fire Marshal & Emergency Management.

Hayman said the house sustained severe damage. Photos of the damage were sent to the OFM.

The County of Brant OPP and fire service continue to investigate these incidents and are asking for assistance from the public to locate anyone who was in the area.
