Brantford police rolled out a tactical response Wednesday morning after receiving a report about a possible firearm outside a residence on Colborne Street East.
Someone who called 911 at around 9:30 AM said they believe a person was holding a firearm. Patrol officers, the emergency response team and a canine unit responded, blocked off traffic and contained the area in the interest of public safety.
The residents cooperated with the police, and investigated the report of a firearm, which they concluded to be unfounded.
There will continue to be a police presence in the area as the investigation is concluded. The Brantford Police Service would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the incident was investigated.
