A man suspected of the shooting deaths of two people in Hamilton has been found dead of a gunshot wound in a Brantford hotel.
Hamilton police had tracked the suspect, 35-year-old David Thomson, to the Days Inn on Fairview Drive in Brantford on Sunday just before 11 p.m.
Outside the hotel, a gunshot was heard from a room on the first floor. Officers went into the hotel to find Thomson deceased of what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
Due the involvement of police officers in this incident, the Special Investigations Unit was dispatched and has assigned two investigators and two forensic investigators. A post-mortem examination of Thomson will take place on Tuesday morning in Hamilton.
The SIU is urging anyone who may have information, including video evidence, regarding this incident to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.
Meanwhile, Hamilton police continue to investigate a double homicide after the bodies of a male and female were found in a Central Mountain townhouse on Saturday evening. Police discovered a deceased adult male and an adult female. Both had been shot. Police believe the victims were targeted.
At this time, Hamilton Police are not releasing the names pending next of kin notification.
Police identified Thomson as a suspect.
