Brantford man charged following attempted armed robbery with BB gun

A 23-year-old Brantford man faces charges after an attempted armed robbery.

On Tuesday just after 1:30 p.m., Brantford Police Service responded to a 911 call on Colborne Street East near the intersection of Kiwanis Way.

Police learned a young man had been at the plaza located at 603 Colborne St. E. when he was approached by an unknown male.  The suspect, holding a handgun, demanded money from the victim. The victim was able to flee the area and police were contacted. 

Patrol officers located and arrested the accused without incident.  A replica handgun (BB gun) was recovered. The victim was not physically injured as a result of the incident. 

A high school located nearby was temporarily placed in hold and secure while the investigation was conducted, it however was lifted shortly afterwards.  A Brantford Police Service high school resource officer is at the school, assisting staff and students. 

As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old Brantford male has been arrested and is facing a number of Criminal Code charges.
