OPP charge Brantford man with attempted murder

An 18-year-old man faces an attempted murder charge after a stabbing at a party.

County of Brant OPP members responded to reports of an injured party on Saturday, July 27, at approximately 1:55 a.m.

Officers attended along with members of the west region emergency response team, criminal investigations unit, K-9 and forensic identification unit to find a 20-year-old male had attended a party at a residence on Bishopsgate Road near the town of Burford in the County of Brant. An altercation took place which resulted in the victim being stabbed. 

The suspects left the scene and the victim was transported by friends into Paris.

The male was transported to a local trauma hospital by ambulance and is currently in stable condition.

Police were alerted to a local gas station where they arrested two Brantford men ages 18 and 20.

The 18-year-old man was charged with:

  • Attempt murder
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm Section
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order
  • Assault Section

The other man was charged with:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Fail to comply with a recognizance of bail
  • Assault

They will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford at a later date to answer to their charges.
