Three men and six women are facing charges for firearms offences and illicit drug activity following an investigation that started in the spring and led to the seizure of money, guns, ammunition and drugs, including nearly $200,000 worth of fentanyl.
The arrests and seizures by Brantford Police Service occurred on July 30 as officers continue to actively investigate incidents involving firearms and illicit drug activity as part of a task force created in the spring to address the increase in drug trafficking and gun violence.
Members of the task executed judicial authorizations at three address in Brantford (Queensway Drive, Banbury Road, and Pearl Street) and one in Kitchener (Westmount Road East) on Tuesday, July 30.
Police seized a large quantity of Canadian money, 784 grams of fentanyl with a street value of $196,100, 65 40-milligram OxyNeo tablets with a street value of $2,600, 8 20-milligram Oxycodone tablets with a street value of $160, a pump action shotgun, 21 shotgun shells, 14 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, seven rounds of 45-calibre ammunition, a hydraulic press. A 2013 Audi R5Q and 2016 Porsche Cayenne are being investigated as property obtained by crime.
The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $198,885.00.
As a result of the investigation, three males and six females have been arrested and charged. Three of the accused
were held for bail hearings and are facing a number of charges. Six others involved are facing charges related to the
investigation and will appear in court at a later date.
