A 48-year-old man has been sent to hospital following a police-involved shooting on Pearl Street in Brantford, an incident under investigation by Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit.
At 12:20 p.m., Brantford Police Service tweeted that “The BPS was involved in an investigation this morning in the area of Pearl St. As a result of the investigation, the SIU has been contacted.”
A spokesperson for the Brantford police said shortly after the tweet was sent that he can provide no further information at this point and referred all inquiries to the SIU.
Shortly thereafter the SIU tweeted that they are investigating a shooting in Brantford and that a 48-year-old man has been sent to a hospital for treatment.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
