Brantford Police Service is investigating a shooting on Dalhousie Street early Wednesday morning.
Just before 4:30 a.m., police received a report of a suspected gunshot in downtown Brantford. Officers investigated to learn an incident had taken place in an alleyway behind a Dalhousie Street complex between Queen Street and King streets.
As officers were securing the scene, a second call was received about a 23-year-old male victim found at a different location who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital for medical treatment due to the severity of the injury.
Major crime unit detectives do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence. Preliminary investigation has revealed the two incidents are associated to each other.
