Reward offered to help solve armed bank robberies

The Canadian Bankers Association is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for five armed bank robberies, including one in the County of Brant.

In what the OPP believe to be the fifth incident in a series of robberies, on April 6, 2018, two suspects entered an RBC branch in Scotland wearing disguises and left with a quantity of cash. One of the suspects was wearing a grey shirt, grey baseball cap and a black hood covering his face and blue gloves. The second suspect was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with a dark face covering.

Four similar robberies occurred in March at financial institutions in Markham, Moorefield, Fonthill, and Embro.

For more information on the terms and conditions of this Canadian Bankers Association reward, contact Malcolm Chivers, director of corporate security, Canadian Bankers Association at mchivers@cba.ca or (416) 362-6093 ext. 330.

The OPP is reminding the public that these suspects are considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who may know the identity or the whereabouts of the suspects or who may come into contact with the suspects should not approach them. Instead, contact the police immediately by calling 911.

A dedicated tip line has been set up for this investigation. Anyone with information that can assist police is asked to call 1-855-677-4636 or, if you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).
