Police ordered residents to evacuate their homes on a Six Nations Road on Sunday following reports of a suspicious substance.
Responding to a report from a Pine Crescent resident who believed a package in the basement might be explosive, Six Nations Police found the package, removed it and took a safe distance from populated areas.
The OPP’s explosive devices unit was called in to help determine if the package was explosive.
The OPP made sure the device was safe and swept the residence for other potentially hazardous materials.
Police closed Pine Crescent for a period of time. The area has since been re-opened to traffic and residents have returned to their homes.
Police have identified a suspect in the incident and are continuing to investigate.
