Update: As a result of the collision the driver of the SUV has passed away. The driver of the SUV has been identified as Owen Crawford, 42, of Haldimand County. The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured.
Original story: County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a two-vehicle collision at Newport Road and Soursprings Road south of Brantford.
At approximately 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6., Brant OPP members, County of Brant firefighters and Brant paramedics attended the scene and found that a sport utility vehicle and a pickup truck had been involved in the collision.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the SUV has been transported to local hospitals with serious, life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) have been deployed to the scene to continue the investigation.
Soursprings Road between Bateman Line and Brant Church Road and Newport Road between Old Greenfield Road and Soursprings Road will remain closed for the next several hours for this investigation.
