A man acting strangely faces drug charges after a resident reported his presence to the Brantford Police Service.
The resident didn’t recognize the man wandering around the area of Division Street and Seventh Avenue on Tuesday just before 7 p.m.
Officers responded to the complaint. When they spoke to the man, he identified
himself with a false name. An investigation revealed the accused was currently wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant.
The officers found the man was in possession of two grams of suspected fentanyl worth $500 and what is believed to be four hydromorphone tablets worth $80. Both drugs are powerful painkillers. Fentanyl in particular can prove deadly if not taken properly. He was arrested without incident.
A 52-year-old Brantford man has been charged with obstructing police and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
