Police officers descended on a Jerseyville Road residence to execute a search warrant of an undisclosed nature on Thursday morning.
Brant OPP Const. Ken Johnston has confirmed arrests have been made as a result of the investigation, but could not yet say how many people were taken into custody. To date, there has been no announcement about charges being laid.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police’s organized crime enforcement bureau, along with the west region community street crime units, tactics and rescue unit, emergency response team, urban search and rescue CBRNE Response Team, aviation services, west region support and the forensic identification unit executed a search warrant at a Jerseyville Road residence west of Ranch Road on June 7 in the early morning as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.
Johnston said the nature of the investigation cannot be divulged while it continues. More information will likely be released if and when charges are laid.
The home and property being searched are part of a large, estate on at least a few acres of land. Shortly after 1 p.m., an excavator was brought in to overturn large decorative stones found in the yard.
OPP officers will remain on the scene while they continue to investigate.
