Driver charged after fleeing Brantford police in stolen vehicle

Two women face charges after Brantford police stopped a driver fleeing in a vehicle reported stolen in Sudbury.

On Thursday around 1 p.m. officers spotted the stolen vehicle on Dalhousie Street. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle when the driver tried to escape, leading to a collision with a police cruiser. The officers contained the vehicle and arrested the two women inside.

The ensuing investigation unearthed evidence the driver was in possession of another stolen vehicle which had been left at another location, as well as a set of stolen licence plates.

The driver, a 19-year-old Hamilton woman, is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident, flight from police, possession of stolen property, failing to comply with a recognizance and driving a motor vehicle with no licence.

The passenger a 20-year-old Brantford woman, is charged with two counts of found within a motor vehicle without consent and breach of probation.
