Charges laid after Hwy. 5 crash in Brant

A 16-year-old faces charges after the County of Brant OPP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 5 east of St George.

At approximately 8 p.m. on May 2, .

officers, firefighters and paramedics arrived at the collision.

Police found a 16-year-old had been operating an off-road motorcycle and struck an SUV while crossing Highway 5.

The drivers were not injured. A child in the SUV suffered minor injuries.

The 16-year-old operator of the off-road motorcycle, who cannot be named under authority of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with careless driving and failing to have the proper driver’s licence to operate a motorcycle, both contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The OPP wants to remind the public that off road motorcycles are only allowed to be operated on private property with permission of the land owner while all proper safety equipment is in use.
