An 18-year-old Brantford student faces a criminal charge after a BB gun was found on a school bus.
On Tuesday just after 8 a.m., a concerned citizen contacted the Brantford Police Service about an unknown male spotted with a BB Gun in the area of Clarence Street and Sheridan Street. The caller watched the student board a school bus before it left the area. Police officers responded and found the school bus. Inside the bus the officers found a male allegedly carrying a BB gun.
The officers determined there was no threat to the driver or students, who were able
to carry on to school.
An 18-year-old Brantford male is charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
Police determined there was no threat made by the accused towards any student, school or member of the public.
“The Brantford Police Service would like to remind people of the dangers of owning replicas firearms such as pellet guns, BB guns, airsoft guns and paint ball guns,” said Constable Shane Seibert. “These replica firearms can easily be mistaken for real firearms. If you chose to own one of these items, please remember to use them responsibly and in a safe manner.”
