Ontario aims to improve emergency and mental health care in Brantford by supporting the redevelopment, expansion and renovation of Brantford General Hospital.
Dr. Helena Jaczek, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, was at Brantford General Hospital (BGH) on Friday afternoon to announce that as part of the redevelopment, the emergency room will be enhanced to include new entrances, and renovations will be completed to improve visibility for patients and staff and ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.
The inpatient mental health unit at BGH will also be renovated to provide a safe physical space for patients and their families, and existing inpatient areas will be upgraded to make them more comfortable.
Last year, Brantford General Hospital had more 54,000 emergency department visits.
This expansion and partial renovation represents the first phase of work on the hospital’s emergency department.
