A man who robbed a Brantford variety store on Tuesday is wanted by the police.
On Dec. 5 at around 6:40 p.m., a male armed with a baseball bat abruptly entered the St. George Grand Street Variety at 29 St. George St.
The suspect, who wore a bandana, sunglasses and a hood to conceal his identity, pointed the bat at a male clerk working the cash register and told him to hang up the phone. The accused handed the clerk a bag and said, “You know what to do.”
The clerk took all of the cash from the register, including the change at the suspect’s request, and put it in the bag.
Brantford police have posted a video of the robbery, which includes sound, hoping someone will recognize the perpetrator.
The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The clerk was not physically injured. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately six-feet tall with average build.
He was wearing a black hoodie, red bandana, sunglasses and blue pants with a white stripe.
“Citizens are reminded to cooperate with suspects should they find themselves the victim of a robbery,” said Const. Natalie Laing. “Try to get the best description possible and call 911 immediately. Always be aware of persons and vehicles and never hesitate to call police if you are concerned for your safety and observe suspicious activity.”
